Hi everyone! Newbie from Ohio. I'm a stay at home mom/housewife with a small "zoo" to take care of. I foster often, so there is never a dull moment here.....
A "few" of my guys (n gals)
Sota, a hormonal, cage aggressive, frustrating blue front amazon guy who loves me one minute, makes ground hamburger of my skin the next. I adore him, and stay well stocked in bandaids.
Beaker, my sweet african grey who was a late bloomer in the talking department, but has really shocked us the past few months.....
Peanut, my
chunky
well fed chihuahua, who suffers an identity crisis, and believes she is a cat.
Bird, the tortie kitty that meowed in the woods behind my house for two days in the rain before I trapped her, brought her in, and soon realized she was completely feral. She's come around, after destroying my bathroom, and ended up staying, though that wasn't the original plan. Now, just over a year later, she's pet-able, but only by me and my husband, occasionally our son.
And these two, Waldo and Azrael, were also supposed to be temporary fosters, raised on the bottle by me from about 4 weeks, born to feral mom who oft loses babies to wildlife, and won't be trapped for a spay. But they never got adopted. By the time I had a potential adopter for Az, they had an inseperable bond, and we couldn't let them go to seperate homes. So, sucker that I am, here they stay, in my "non-cat" household. But I wouldn't give'em up for anything now.....
There's more, but I'll spare you.

Hello there!! Nice to meet you and your gang.. I as well am involved in fostering, its one of the most rewarding things I've done (along with training my cockapoo for her CGC/TDI) My rescue cockapoo was one of those fosters who became a forever baby, and I am so thankful I came across her. She is by far one of the sweetest little girls I've met. She always gets compliments on her good behavior (first rescue I ever worked with that had such little behavioral issues! Theres usually always something or other.) Her groomer absolutely adores her and says she one of the best behaved girls she has on her clientele. (I cant take the credit, she came to me about what guys... 8 months ago?... a little under a year.)
Zoey is my miniature black and tan dachshund and I post updates on various fosters I have, I usually try for a few a year. This year I had a beagle mix, Mercedes a chihuahua and two kittens so far. Trying to get more involved with DRNAs foster program in the spring.
But anyhows... welcome to the board and your kittens and birds are beautiful, (Waldo and Azreal are just too cute, little twins!) as is little Peanut! I'm a small dog person myself, so we'll have lots to talk about LOL.

Funny, because I think my dachshund suffered from a stint of this same complex this past summer. Or, it may have been our two foster kittens, I'm not sure. They "nursed" from her until she was red and swollen, although she had no milk to give, I think it comforted them. The black longhaired kitten I had got really attached, Zoe would even "discipline" her if she started to get too rough or rowdy in play, but never too hard. It was really quite interesting. So they either were convinced they were dachshunds, or Zoe thought she was a mama cat, never quite figured it out.

Cooky, you say? Terrific. I'll fit right in.
I fostered a quaker for a few months last summer. They're such cute-faced, comical little birds. But they sure can flip the personality switch when they become territorial of their cage.

Well I'll have to browse the board for some Zoey pics! We had a dox when I was younger and lived with my parents. They still have her. She's 12 yrs old, her eyesight is starting to diminish, and she is lacking in the dental department, if you know what I mean. But that dog lives for a tennis ball.
I think the fosters-made-permanent are the best pets. I am a sucker for the ones that come from sad beginnings....

Thats TOO cute! Peanut doesn't have a maternal bone in her body. Her complex comes from the fact that she uses a litterbox instead of going outside, is now surrounded by cats, and will knock a person over for catfood. (We've finally gotten it down to a science to keep her from getting it, but it took us a while).
And god forbid I should get the catnip treats out for kitties and not give her one.....

Nice to meet you CrazyBird!
We are owned by a feathered friend as well.
Our Kona is a Solomon Island Eclectus.
He is very talkative and chatters away the day. Of course the majority of it is harassing the dogs, as he knows both of their names, including variations, and yelling at them to KENNEL....RIGHT NOW...
They are used to his rattling on, so they completely ignore him.
Will have to look and post some pics later for you.
Welcome to the boards!

Alright! Another bird owner. I absolutely love Ekkies. I fostered a female for a while. Keeping her was a definite consideration, but she showed a little tooooo much love for my husband who is NOT a bird person
) And laid an egg or two for him. So when she was adopted, we knew it was best for her, as she went to live with a man who IS a bird person. I have always wanted a male of my own, I love their candy corn beaks.
Kona sounds like a character!

You found a link to us on craigslist?
Hmmmm, now that's a new one!
I was wondering where all this new traffic was coming from, and all of the people were legit animal people.
Perhaps that is where. And when I check out craigslist I see they have pet forums there!

I looked for the original post but don't see it now.....
The craigslist pet section gets scary.

My son (a week away from being eight) has his own parrotlet. I used to breed them, but after a mishap with a baby from my second clutch (it was killed by the family dog less than a week after going to it's new home) I decided I couldn't handle trusting strangers to take care of these babies that I had raised and put so much time and effort (and love) into.
My son desperately wanted a particular baby from the clutch, so we allowed him to pick it, and name it, and it is "his" bird, but between you and me, PeeWee likes me better.
